      <image:title>Home - Welcome to the Blenis Lab</image:title>
<image:caption>The Blenis Laboratory investigates how cells sense and integrate cues to maintain cellular homeostasis. Particularly, we are interested in understanding how cellular signaling and metabolism are hijacked by cancer cells to promote tumorigenesis and drug resistance. We are also investigating the links between aging (and other metabolic diseases such as obesity and diabetes) on cancer initiation and progression. Utilizing state-of-the-art technologies, we observe and manipulate these pathways in a variety of cell-based and mouse models of cancer. Clinician-scientists in the lab then translate our findings in the clinic. Additionally, we have also established several collaborations with clinicians at New York-Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM). The Blenis Laboratory is a part of the Meyer Cancer Center at WCM, a newly established cancer center in the heart of NYC. Dr. Blenis is the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Professor in Cancer Research, Associate Director for Basic Science at the Meyer Cancer Center, Professor of Pharmacology at WCM and the graduate program director for the Department of Pharmacology. Dr. Blenis is affiliated with Tri-Institutional training programs (centered among three premier New York Institutions: Weill Cornell Medicine, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Rockefeller University), and is a participating member of the Tri-Institutional PhD program in Chemical Biology and the Tri-Institutional MD-PhD Program.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home (Copy) - Welcome to the Blenis Lab</image:title>
<image:caption>The Blenis Laboratory investigates how cells sense and integrate cues to maintain cellular homeostasis. Particularly, we are interested in understanding how these mechanisms are hijacked by cancer cells to promote tumorigenesis and drug resistance. Utilizing state of the art technologies, we observe and manipulate these pathways in a variety of cell-based and mouse models of cancer. Additionally, our lab has made invaluable contributions to and continues to pioneer research in the study of lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), an orphan disease affecting women of childbearing age, and has established a unique mouse model for this disease. The Blenis Laboratory is a part of the Meyer Cancer Center at Weill Cornell Medicine, a newly established cancer center in the heart of NYC. Dr. Blenis heads the Department of Pharmacology at Weill Cornell Medicine and is affiliated with the Tri-Institutional training programs (centered among three premier New York Institutions: Weill Cornell Medicine, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Rockefeller University.)</image:caption>
